CBSE norms for computer lab middle school, secondary school, senior secondary school
As per CBSE affiliation guidelines, a school is expected to maintain the following labs for their students.
For Middle School (up to class VIII) – A computer Laboratory, Library, Sports facility, and Math Laboratory are primary requirements
For Secondary school (up to Class X) – A composite science Lab, Computer Laboratory, Library, Sports facility, and Math Laboratory are primary requirements
For senior secondary School (up to Class XII) – A separate Biology lab, physics Lab, and chemistry lab along with a composite science Lab, Computer Laboratory, Library, Sports facility, and Math Laboratory are primary requirements

The SOP clearly states how to create function and maintain the said labs as per requirement. The size of the lab room, furniture or structure required in each lab, seating arrangements for students, notices and manuals to be used, storing facility for keeping the consumables, teachers board fire extinguisher pipeline for water drainage, etc.

The National Education Policy 2020 has emphasized the importance of hands on learning and learning by doing, besides ensuring that the school becomes a centre for holistic development of students. Sports are integral to the learning process in a school. Laboratories aim to create opportunities to provide students with hands bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and their application in everyday life. Students can also le technological and scientific skills if they participate in various laboratory exercises.
