Rajnath Singh Celebrates Holi with Soldiers in Leh, Praises Ladakh as India’s Capital of Bravery

Leh, March 24, 2024: In a heartwarming celebration of courage, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh marked the festival of colours, Holi, with the valiant soldiers stationed in Leh. Against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks and the indomitable spirit of our armed forces, Singh applied tilak with ‘gulal’ on the foreheads of these brave warriors.

Thumbs up to Celebration

Originally scheduled to visit Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield, Rajnath Singh’s plans were thwarted by inclement weather. However, the cancellation did not dampen his spirit. Instead, he seized the opportunity to celebrate Holi with the soldiers in Leh, a gesture that resonated with unwavering patriotism and gratitude.

Ladakh: India’s Capital of Courage

Addressing the soldiers, Singh declared, “Ladakh is India’s capital of courage and bravery.” Drawing parallels with other capitals—Delhi (the national capital), Mumbai (the financial capital), and Bengaluru (the technological capital)—he emphasized that Ladakh’s valorous spirit shines brightly amidst extreme weather conditions.

When everyone wants to hide in their homes due to extreme weather conditions, you stand up to protect the country from its enemies with unwavering willpower,” Singh praised. His words echoed across the barren landscapes, reaching the hearts of those who guard our borders with unwavering dedication.

A Divine Duty

“You are doing divine work,” Singh continued. “You are ready to fire at the enemy and take a bullet to your chest. It is due to this sacrifice that the people of our country can celebrate Holi peacefully.” His voice resonated with respect and admiration for the soldiers, whom he likened to protector gods.

Commitment to Welfare

Singh reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare of the armed forces and their families. “We have to take care of you, your children, and your parents,” he affirmed. “Our government works tirelessly for the forces of the country, mirroring the zeal with which you serve.”

A Tradition of Gratitude

Reflecting on his tenure as Defence Minister, Singh recalled his first visit to Siachen. “Today, it was not possible to go to Siachen due to bad weather,” he shared. “Therefore, I wish a happy Holi to all soldiers deployed there.” Playing Holi with jawans, he confessed, was one of his happiest moments.

“We all know that there is a tradition in our country,” Singh mused. “Whenever there is any auspicious occasion, we start it by worshipping our beloved God.” He envisioned a unique tradition: “The first lamp of Diwali, the first colour of Holi—all this should be in the name of our protectors, our soldiers.”

A Nation’s Gratitude

As the sun dipped behind the Himalayan peaks, leaving a trail of golden hues, Rajnath Singh stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the soldiers. Their camaraderie, their unwavering resolve, and their sacrifice formed the bedrock of our nation’s security.

In Leh, where the air is thin and the mountains stand tall, Holi became more than a festival—it became a testament to courage, resilience, and the indomitable spirit of Ladakh. As the gulal settled on their uniforms, it symbolized not just colours but also the hues of bravery that define our soldiers.
