Vic and Melinda Van Allen are a couple with Trixie, a daughter who lives in a small town in Little Wesley, Louisiana.
Vic is a retired robotics engineer who has collected a small fortune to develop guidance chips used in combat drones.
Their loveless marriage is together only by an unstable arrangement that she can take as many lovers as she wants unless Melinda abandons her family to avoid divorce turmoil.
Will be retained. Still, their open marriage isn’t kept secret among their friends, but Vic is more and more jealous of Melinda’s lover.
Melinda invites one of her lovers, musician Joel Dash, to the party. Alone with Joel, Vic tells him that he has killed her ex-boyfriend, Martin McRae, who disappeared a month ago.
The story floats around her social group, leaving Joel away and asking questions about the truth of the story. Later, television news revealed that Martin was found shot dead by someone else.
Melinda’s next lover, piano teacher Charlie de Lyle, was invited to a pool party at the house of Vic’s friend Honas Fernandez.

Vic is quietly jealous when he sees Melinda and Charlie hanging out in the pool. When it starts to rain, everyone rushes in, but scarily finds Charlie drowning and dead in the pool.
When questioned by police, Melinda immediately accused Vic of killing Charlie and was suspicious of her new boyfriend, Don Wilson.
With the help of Melinda, Don secretly hires a private detective and later pretends to be a psychotherapist. However, Vic quickly reveals this plot, openly blaming Don in front of his wife and young daughter, and clashing with an uninvited Wilson family lunch.
After a while, Melinda reunites with her old college friend Tony Cameron, which makes Vic jealous.
Vic drove Tony alone into the woods before throwing him off a rocky hill and killing him.

After that, Vic dumps himself in a nearby stream. After a while, Vic returns to the stream to get Melinda’s scarf from the previous day’s picnic trip, but when he tries to submerge Tony’s body further, he suddenly catches him and drives Don. He was surprised to have his car recklessly escape with Vic for help, but in the turmoil that followed, Don accidentally kicked his car off the cliff and killed him instantly with shock.
At the same time, Melinda found Tony’s purse with her own ID in one of Vic’s snail tanks, confirming that Vic knew Tony’s whereabouts.
Melinda begins packing her with the intention of leaving with her daughter, but she only faces rebellious about Trixie’s stay.
After she thinks about it, Melinda burns Tony’s ID and hints that she’s going to be with Vic when he gets home.
