The Festivity of lighting lamps and diyas and celebrating happiness beyond any religion, color, or status open for all is celebrated as Diwali, also known as Deepavali, this year it is celebrated on October 24th October 2024. It shows the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, and hope over despair.
People also see Bhagwan Rama’s arrival in Ayodhya with goddess Devi’s Mother Sita, Lord Vamana defeating Bali, and Lord Krishna killing many demons like Narkasur on that day. In most parts of the country, except Maharashtra, Diwali starts at Dhanteras and ends at Bhaiyadhooj.
The date of Dhanteras is 22nd October 2022 and Choti Deepawali is 23rd October 2022.
According to the popularly used Panchang, Dhanteras falls on Saturday, October 22. The puja muhurat ( the auspicious time of worship to god) will begin at 07:00 pm and end at 08:17 pm. Additionally, the Pradosh Kaal is from 05:44 pm to 08:17 pm, and the Vrishabha Kaal is from 07:00 pm to 08:56 pm. The Trayodashi tithi will begin at 06:02 pm on October 22 and end at 06:03 pm on October 23.

During the festivity of Dhanteras and Deepawali, people decorate their homes with flowers, diyas, candles, and fairy lights. They also clean the house thoroughly to remove negative energy. Auspicious items such as gold, silver, brass and copperware, idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh, brass, copper and silver utensils, brooms, electronics, home appliances, furniture, and real estate are used to bring them good luck.
